Library

On the way to the digital age

The Hengeler Mueller Library of Bucerius Law School was founded in September 2000 and bears the name of its sponsor, a renowned law firm with offices in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt/Main, Munich, Brussels and London.

Centre of hybrid legal information

The Library is the centre of hybrid legal information: It is large enough to hold more than 125,000 ideally retrievable printed media, more than 10,000 e-books and 2,500 e-jounrlas. Numerous legal online and offline databases are licensed. It is supported by the customer-oriented services of an extremely professional six-member library team. The Library inventory can be searched via an Internet-library catalogue (OPAC), which is also available as an iPhone app.

Highly specialized and permanently open

Together with the highly specialised contents of our twenty professorship libraries and five department libraries it provides the scientific information infrastructure for our students, academic staff and professors. It remains permanently open, its services being available unreservedly.

Ideal place of study and work

With its 528 working spaces the Library is an excellent, multimedia-based place of study for its potential 1,000 clients from study, research, teaching and further training. Perspective and medium-term objective are the ubiquitous use of all electronic media through portable terminals.

The accessibility of the Central Library of the Law Faculty, University of Hamburg, the Max-Planck-Institute Library for Foreign and International Private Law as well as the Library of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce, Hamburg, fully satisfies the demand for information of our clients. By means of interlibrary loan and a document delivery service we fulfill any time-limited wish of literature from the stock of the libraries of all German Faculties of Law.

The Library offers internships for suitable applicants (preferably for students of the HAW - Hamburg University of Applied Sciences).

The Library offers access to approximately 125,000 printed and digital media
